Oriental Languages

                                        DEPARTMENT OF MALAYALAM
The Department of Malayalam had its inception way back in 1981, by merging the faculties of Malayalam and Hindi, as Department of Oriental Languages. Rev. Dr. M. J. Zacharias (Rev. Dr. Z. M.Moozhoor) was appointed as the first lecturer in the department. Prof. P. C. Devasia joined the department in 1982. Dr.Joshy Varghese Joined as assistant professor in 1996. Prof. P. C. Devasia and Rev. Dr. M. J. Zacharias have retired after fulfilling their illustrious service in 1997 and 2002 respectively.

The Malayalam association of our college functions The Malayalam association of our college functions under the name Malayalam ‘Sahithyavedi’ and is actively partaking in promoting the literary sensibilities of our students in their Mother tongue. As part of its activities, the association takes special care to nurture the artistic and intellectual potentials of our students. We promote Literary competitions, publication of manuscript magazines and invited lectures from eminent people of literary repute.

                                              DEPARTMENT OF HINDI

The department of Hindi started its journey along with the department of Malayalam as department of oriental languages in 1981. Prof. M. P Narayanan Nampoodiri was appointed as the first lecturer in the department. Prof. Sr. Marykutty V.A joined the department in 1986. The present H.O.D Dr. Sobhitha Sebastian joined the department as assistant professor in 2013. Prof. Narayanan Nampoodiri and Prof. Sr. Marykutty V.A have retired from the college after fulfilling commendable service in 2013 and 2010 respectively.
Dept. of Hindi encourages various co-curricular activities to project the artistic talents of the students beyond the academic peripheries.
