Established in May 2021, the Department of Data Science at St. Joseph’s College, Moolamattom, stands as a beacon in response to the burgeoning demand for skilled data professionals in the industry. Our commitment to delivering high-quality education in various allied disciplines, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, the Internet of Things, and data analytics, sets the foundation for moulding students into skilled data professionals equipped to tackle the challenges of the modern world.

Our department boasts a team of experienced faculty members dedicated to imparting comprehensive knowledge and practical skills to our students. With state-of-the-art lab infrastructure, we provide an environment conducive to learning and experimentation including Gamification, ensuring our students are well-prepared to excel in the field of data science.

Pioneering Programme:
Our flagship programme, the “Five Year Integrated M. Sc. in Computer Science- Data Science,” stands as a pioneering initiative in the field. It is rapidly gaining recognition as the most sought-after program in the present scenario, offering students a comprehensive and integrated approach to learning data science.

Enriching Learning Experience:
In addition to the core curriculum, we provide workshops covering various domains of data science, add-on courses on diversified areas of thrust, interactive sessions with expert data scientists, and industrial visits to centres of excellence. These initiatives are designed to augment the skills and knowledge of our students, keeping them abreast of the latest developments and trends in the industry.

Engagement and Outreach:
The department actively engages with the wider community through initiatives such as the FOSS Club of ICFOSS, an autonomous institute under the Government of Kerala. Additionally, our students produce Code Hub, a digital bimonthly magazine, showcasing their insights and contributions to the field. They conduct exhibitions in schools in order to cater to the scientific aptitude of students.

EXCELSIOR Competition:
To foster academic excellence and innovation, we organize EXCELSIOR, an annual higher secondary level competition in collaboration with the mathematics department. This platform encourages young minds to showcase their talents and passion for data science and related disciplines.
