Distinctiveness

St. Joseph’s College stands unique because of its thrust on social upliftment and delivering progress. The institution has channelized the growth of the rustic mountain ranges of Idukki and brought significant differences to the lives of the tribal and marginalized section of population. A special focus has been attached to the education of the tribal children through a diverse host of measures. A considerable number of rural tribal settlement camps have been conducted addressing issues such as education, school drop outs, influence of alcohol, tobacco and drugs, maternal health and child welfare. Special surveys, extensive research studies and project works have been carried out among the target population bringing in more attention from the part of local self-governments and other government authorities. The institution has joined hands with Janamaythri Excise Squad, tribal Development Office – Idukki, Office of the Hon. MLA of Poonjar, Green valley Development Society -Idukki, District Mental Health Project – Idukki and Several social service organizations and NGOs and the Institution became the driving force behind the collective endeavor of human upliftment.

The College successfully placed resources and committed youth force in these sectors thereby becoming the beacon of social progress. The uniqueness and distinctiveness the Institution now possesses is the result of hard work, perseverance and the employment of a well chalked out strategic plan by the college involving management, staff and students.
